Eligibility for Membership

Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution can join the DAR.

National Membership

The Daughters of the American Revolution has over 185,000 members in 3000 chapters in the United States and Washington, DC. International chapters are located in countries around the world, including: Australia, Austria, The Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada, France, Germany, Guam, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain, and the United Kingdom. More than one million women have joined the DAR since it was founded in 1890.  The DAR is one of the world’s largest and most active service organizations. DAR members are committed to volunteer service, having served more than 12.5 million hours in communities throughout the world during the past three years.
