The James Stewart Chapter is pleased to announce that a chapter member has won three national awards.  Award winners were recognized at the 120th Continental Congress held in Washington D.C. this past July, 2011.

1. DAR Genealogy Preservation Committee:

James Stewart Chapter Member – Award for for Outstanding Service

She spent hours entering data from scanned images of application pages into the national data base as part of the Descendants Project.  She is just one of a host of volunteers across the country that have been transcribing applications.  The goal of this project is to get all the application information into a digital format so that it will be available to researchers.  She transcribed 720 applications in 100 hours during November and December of 2010. We applaud her efforts.

2. Volunteer Information Specialist Committee:

James Stewart Chapter Member – Award for Outstanding Service Website Construction

She built our chapter web site and is serving as our web master.  She has put in over 200 hours working on this web site and we are extremely pleased with the result.

3. National Defense Committee

James Stewart Chapter Member – Award Honorable Mention Best Editorial

Her winning editorial was featured in the November 2011 National Defender Magazine.
