The 2013 Georgia State Conference was held  in Atlanta March 14-17th.   James Stewart Chapter members  Beverly Baker, Bonnie Baker and Lauren Baker attended three days.   Member Monique Gullo and her daughter Emma attend the Saturday events. Member Carla Brown attended all four days serving as the state conference treasurer.

Our own junior member, Lauren Baker served as a Flag Page for the Conference and did an excellent job!

The memorial Service for daughters who passed away last year was held on Friday morning and our regent Beverly Baker served as a flower page for the service.  She also did an excellent job!

The business meetings were held Saturday and Sunday mornings.  The Opening night banquet featured salmon, grits, and greens and was delicious.  The guest speaker was Lt. Col. Jennifer S. Minus who spoke on “Boots in the Sandbox, Lessons Learned in Iraq”.  Everyone thoroughly enjoyed her insights.  The band Homeland entertained us after the speech and sang a song they wrote specifically for the Daughters of the American Revolution.

The Schools Luncheon on Saturday was well attended and each of the schools’ representatives shared moving stories of how the DAR has helped their students’ lives.

Chapter Appreciation Night

The Chapter Appreciation Night Banquet was wonderful.   Regents sat with their chapters and each chapter was honored.  After the meal, we adjourned to the auditorium for the Chapter Achievement Award Presentations which were followed by a visit from Marilyn Monroe and Elvis.   We had a ball singing and dancing to many old favorites and watching Elvis!
